Ojai, CA—As communities struggle to regain a footing after Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, Nourish America is providing needed support via $1.5 million in nutritional products donated by various companies. Throughout the Northeast and North Carolina, continuous heavy rain has meant record flooding and widespread evacuations, including a mandatory order for 100,000 to flee in preparation for Lee.

In order to reach people with supplies and food, Nourish America partnered with the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), with the support of products from donors including NOW Foods, Clif Bar & Company, Pharmavite, Alacer Corp, and Healthy Direction. For Hurricane Irene relief, these parties have donated over 200,000 protein and energy bars along with other nutritional supplements and supplies. Legislators with NFWL have been facilitating the relief by directing aid to their constituents. “We are very grateful for all the generous donations of nutritional products from Nourish America. With the presence of Tropical Storm Lee, Northern New Jersey is still in great need of relief. Your continuing help is deeply appreciated,” stated State Senator Diane Allen of New Jersey.

Support for the relief effort is still needed, and Nourish America is calling for cash donations, as well as the donation of items like bottled water, toothpaste, cleaning solutions, diapers and shelf stable baby food.
