The Natural Products Association announced it has a new program coordinator for its scientific and regulatory affairs department: Cara Welch, Ph.D.

Rao’s Specialty Foods of New York, NY welcomed Robin Rini to its team as national sales manager for the Western USA region.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition of Washington, D.C. elected several new board members: Chuck Brice, Kemin Health, Larry Esposito, Innophos, Ron Fugate, Alacer Corp., Scott Hagerman, Chemi Nutra, Carl Hastings, Reliv Int., and Vic Neufeld,  Jamieson Labs. Jim Hamilton, DSM Nutritional Products, is the new chair-elect.

Jeffrey Light, founder of Jason Natural Products and Jason Natural & Organic Cosmetics, has purchased Aroma Naturals Inc. of Irvine, CA. Yankee Candle Company, its former owner, stated in August 2009 that it was looking to close the business.

In Memoriam

RidgeCrest Herbals of Salt Lake City, UT, is mourning the loss of Clyde Sterling StClair, Jr., who passed away in November at the age of 73. StClair was a principal and co-owner of RidgeCrest Herbals, where he handled product marketing and development. StClair held many top positions in several herbal and food supplement manufacturers (such as K&L Distributors, Albion Labs, Nature’s Herbs and Solaray) and served as a marketing consultant to many health food companies. In addition, he owned and operated a health food store for many years.

Wayne Diamond, N.D., lost his battle with myelofibrosis on Nov. 30, 2009.  He was 64. Diamond, a naturopathic physician and psychotherapist based in Chestnut Hill, PA, was the founder of Diamond Herpanacine Associates, a vitamin maker based in Jenkintown, PA.
