Herbalist & Alchemist of Washington, NJ, named Alice Masotes national sales manager.

Cara Welch, Ph.D., senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs, and Vicki Whitsitt, scientific and regulatory affairs manager at the Natural Products Association of Washington, D.C., participated in a panel session about key regulatory issues at the 16th Annual FDA-OCRA Educational Conference in June. The panel also included Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., director of the division of dietary supplement programs for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Michael McGuffin, president of the American Herbal Products Association.

Carson City, NV-based Coral LLC hired Lana Longo (Perez) to be its new sales and event coordinator, Niki Cruzan as assistant sales manager and Jordyn Curtis as customer service rep.

Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and CEO of Chobani, based in New Berlin, NY, was named the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year. Frank Lampe is now the vice president of communications and industry relations for the United Natural Products Alliance of Salt Lake City, UT.

Corey Norton joined Aker BioMarine Antarctic, headquartered in Oslo, Norway, as the U.S. vice president of sales. He will be responsible for directing the company’s sales strategy and execution, as well as pursuing new business opportunities.

Rimouski, QC, Canada-based innoVactiv announced Blake Kraemer joined its team as the director of sales of nutrition for the U.S. territory.

Extracts and Ingredients Ltd., a division of MORRE-TEC Industries, Inc. based in Union, NJ, announced that Jacklyn H. Kim will be its new West Coast accounts manager and Jenna L. Jelinski will be East Coast accounts manager.

Essential Formulas Inc., of Dallas, TX, announced that Alexandra Charles was promoted to director of education.

A Natural Health Research Institute committee selected Sara Leiman, a doctoral student from Harvard University, as the recipient of its $17,500 grant during the 2013–2014 school year. Leiman is studying how a by-product of lung bacteria can help fight the lung infections in those with cystic fibrosis.
