The Natural Health Research Institute (NHRI) hosted its 8th Annual Scientific Symposium on October 20, 2012. The conference focued on “The Effectiveness of Natural Products for Women’s Health” and was held at the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy in Chicago.

Enzymedica, Inc. of Port Charlotte, FL will continue its partnership with The Autism Hope Alliance (AHA). Enzymedica has already given more than $300,000 to the group, and pledged to donate an additional $1 million over the next five years.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) of Washington, D.C., developed a free, searchable list of any dietary supplement advertising decisions issued by the National Advertising Division (NAD) since 2007.  The tool is available at no charge on CRN’s Web site, www.crnusa.org.

The new site offers makes it easier to find product and ordering information, and “boasts a modern, colorful design and is divided into four sections; a corporate page, and separate sites for Uckele equine, canine and human product lines.”

Life Extension of Fort Lauderdale, FL is offering shoppers a chance to win big in its Supplements for Life Sweepstakes. To enter, consumers can enter the sweepstakes at www.LEF.org/sweeps by January 31, 2013 to qualify. The prize will consist of up to $1,200 worth of supplements each year for the winner’s life or 20 years, whichever comes first.

Torrance, CA-based Sun Chlorella said it will give $50,000 to The Gentle Barn (an animal rescue organization) to renovate its barn as well as nutritional products to help rehabilitate rescued animals.

Santa Ana, CA-based NeoCell promised to give Vitamin Angels 25 cents for every product sold from September 17 through December 17. A similar program generated a $29,000 donation in 2011.

Zerbo’s Health Foods in Livonia, MI won the “Win a Date with Terry Lemerond” contest at Natural Products Expo West, and received a visit from Lemerond in early September.

The Natural Products Association of Washington, D.C. sponsored the first-ever Farm to Fork Zone at the Taste of DC from October 6-8 in Washington, D.C. In other news, the Natural Products Foundation (NPF) Truth in Advertising Review program recently sent its 200th warning letters.
