Washington, D.C.—It’s déjà vu for hemp supporters as a bill supporting hemp farming in the United States has been reintroduced in Congress. If passed, the bill would end a 50+-year ban on hemp farming.

Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) issued a letter to fellow Congressmen asking for their support of The Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2011, which is almost the same bill that was introduced in 2009.

It was introduced to Congress twice before as well. The bill, which has 25 sponsors to date, states that the term “marihuana” should not be used to indicate industrial hemp and therefore it is a legal crop.
