South Plainfield, NJ—The Natural Products Association, based in Washington, D.C., has selected Howard Wainer, president of WholeFoods Magazine, as the winner of its 2014 President’s Award. This annual award is given to a natural products industry member who has made long-term and significant contributions to the industry.

Wainer has been the owner of WholeFoods Magazine since 1984, first serving as its publisher and currently its president. A staunch supporter of the natural products industry, Wainer has used the pages of WholeFoods Magazine to educate and inform natural products retailers for 30 years. Through WholeFoods, he handpicked and created a venue for some of the most influential columnists in the industry, such as Mark Blumenthal and Dr. Richard Passwater. Wainer also used WholeFoods to track key regulatory issues and industry trends, which has helped readers keep informed of everything from the passing of DSHEA to the non-GMO movement. Many individuals credit Wainer with helping get their businesses off the ground. See his profile on page 44 for more.

Additional coverage of the award and all the 2014 recipients will be printed in an upcoming issue of WholeFoods Magazine.
